It’s time to unveil our first brand-new Liberty HR Recruitment Leaders’ Forum for 2022. Following the results of the survey we sent out, we received many supportive comments in relation to the forum we hosted about suicide in the workplace, and about mental health generally.

So with this in mind, Liberty has great pleasure in announcing that our first forum will be led by Ian and Alice Hendy from the award-winning R;pple Suicide Prevention.

Ian lost his son – Alice’s brother – Josh to suicide in November 2020 at the age of just 21. After examining Josh’s phone, Alice found that he had been researching techniques to take his own life via harmful internet searches. The content available online, following a search of this nature, currently provides mental health support in just one format; a helpline.

To ensure more help and support is given to individuals searching for harmful content online, Alice set up R;pple. R;pple is a browser extension interceptive tool designed to ensure more help and support is provided to individuals who are conducting searches relating to self-harm or suicide. R;pple consists of a message of hope as well as a selection of mental health resources in a range of different options (call, text, webchat) from free, established and 24/7 charity services.

To date, this technology has been downloaded over 135,000 times, with schools, colleges, universities, parents, carers and charities able to download R;pple, free of charge (a fee is required from businesses) and is known to have saved the lives of a number of people.

Ian and Alice hope you can support the mission to get people the mental health support they need at a time when they are most vulnerable.

The Liberty HR Recruitment Leaders’ Forum will take place on Wednesday 18th May at 12.30pm and will last for approximately one hour (including questions). As always, the event will take place via Zoom and places are expected to go quickly, so please contact us to book your place. You can do this by emailing hello@libertyhr.co.uk and we will share the joining instructions with you.
