We understand that a trusting relationship is essential between a client and recruiter. Our CIPD qualified HR & Recruitment specialists have decades of experience in filling HR, Talent Acquisition and Learning & Development roles.

Meet Our Team

By way of an introduction, we’d like you to meet the small (but perfectly formed)
Liberty HR Recruitment team.

Jane Barry

Managing Director

Liberty HR Recruitment founder, Jane Barry, is an FCIPD qualified HR professional and recruitment specialist who has worked in the sector for over 20 years. She has previously been Chair of the Portsmouth CIPD group and is the current Chair of the Wessex Branch of the CIPD.

Specialising in HR, Talent and Learning & Development roles, Jane has an eye for detail and a meticulous approach. Everyone who knows Jane will testify to her warmth as a person and her passion for everything that she does, including her near-legendary  ‘To Do’ lists..

Jane carries a small photograph of the handsome singer and song-writer Billy Bragg in her purse, hoping he will one day call and whisk her away. In the meantime she lives in Southsea with her husband Den, their three dogs and three cats.

Den Barry

Liberty HR Recruitment co-founder Den Barry, is our multi-talented social media and communications guru. He has previously worked in a similar capacity for a charity, a social enterprise and for other recruitment organisations, prior to the launch of Liberty HR Recruitment.

We describe Den as ‘multi-talented’ as he is a published author, the drummer in a band and Chair of Trustees at Toucan Diversity Training, where he also occasionally delivers disability equality training to local employers.

When not busy with any of these duties, Den can be found making tea and coffee for the team, ticking off completed tasks from assorted ‘To Do’ lists he’s been given and checking that Billy Bragg isn’t at the front door.

Lucy Valantine

Lucy Valantine

Recruitment Partner

Lucy Valantine is an Associate member of the CIPD and a Myers Briggs-qualified HR professional. She has worked in a variety of HR roles for over 20 years. A chance meeting at a Tom Robinson gig earlier this year re-established Jane and Lucy’s connection and later resulted in Jane inviting Lucy to join the Liberty HR Recruitment team.

Specialising in Learning & Development and HR roles, Lucy is known for being resourceful and confident with a strong consultative style. Quick to establish a warm rapport, Lucy’s focus is on nothing less than providing a gold-star service, always treating others how she wanted to be treated when she herself was job-hunting.

Having previously run her own business in Spain and taught English as a foreign language, Lucy now lives in Westbourne with her fiancé Steve and their cat, Ruby. They like to spend their weekends at 1930s and 1940s re-enactment events.
